Transform Your Reality: A Guide to Reset Your Life in 7 Days

Within the next 60 days, 99% of people will have forgotten about their New Year’s resolutions and big vision for the year. Will you be one of them? If you truly want to make 2024 a memorable and deeply rewarding year, the one in which your vision finally became a reality, here’s the truth about getting what you want in Carol Burnett’s own words:

“Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.”

Only you, and you alone, have the power to create the changes in your life your heart is longing for. All you need is clarity, structure, and some kind of accountability.

To help you start the year with greater clarity, I’d like to share a seven-day process that uses the five neurological levels of change: identity, beliefs, capabilities, behaviors, and environment. Knowing that long-lasting changes happen mostly at higher levels, your chance to create the life you’ve always wanted becomes clearer.

How to Reset Your Life in 7 Days

Over the course of the following week, I will guide you through a journey of self-discovery with a series of reflective questions for each day. The process encourages you to appreciate your journey so far, initiates you to identify your heart’s deepest desires, and challenges you to make powerful choices about who you really want to be.

The intention is simple: by the end of the week, you will start taking baby steps, but this time, you’ll be moving in a whole new direction—one that truly aligns with your core values and higher purpose. As we tread this path together, let the words of Rumi inspire you: “The moment you accept what troubles you’ve been given, the door will open.”

Ready to get started? Let’s begin

Every new year brings us a fresh new chapter in our life, and an opportunity for a powerful reset. The first month of the year holds immense potential for introspection, self-discovery, and transformative change. It’s a time to pause, reflect, and reconnect with your heart’s deepest desires. In this guide, we will embark on a seven-day journey that will help you gain greater self-awareness, make powerful choices, and reset your life from a place of love, appreciation, and alignment with your core values and higher purpose.

The Preparation

Before we begin, I invite you to set aside dedicated time for yourself each day, ideally a minimum of one hour, to journal and reflect on the questions and prompts provided. Find a quiet space where you can dive deep into your thoughts and emotions without distractions. This sacred time will allow you to connect with your heart’s wisdom and uncover the insights that will guide you towards personal mastery, leadership development, and spiritual growth.

Throughout this transformative journey, consider keeping a journal to document your reflections, insights, and the positive changes you observe each day. This journal can serve as a powerful tool for self-discovery and a source of motivation as you progress on your path to personal growth.

Day 1: Reflecting on Identity

“Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”

– Steve Jobs

We embark on a journey of self-discovery, reflecting on the essence of who you are at your core. Settle into your sacred heart space, grab your journal, and contemplate the following questions:

1) Who am I at my core? What are my unique strengths, passions, and values that define me?

Example: I am compassionate, creative, and deeply committed to personal growth.

2) What roles do I play in my life, and how do they align with my authentic self?

Example: I am a mother, daughter, and teacher who enjoys expressing her love and sharing her wisdom.

3) If I were to fully step into my truest self, who would I become? How would I show up in the world?

Example: If I embraced my truest self, I would become a powerful catalyst for positive change, inspiring others through my creativity and compassion.

Day 2: Uncovering Beliefs

“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.”

– Henry Ford

Today’s reflection is about beliefs that have shaped your thoughts, decisions, and actions. By recognizing and challenging limiting beliefs, you can open doors to a new realm of possibilities. Take your journal and explore the following:

1) What beliefs about myself and the world have influenced my choices in the past?

Example: I have believed that success requires sacrificing personal happiness and fulfillment.

2) Are these beliefs serving me well, or are they holding me back from realizing my true potential?

Example: These beliefs have held me back, keeping me in a cycle of discontent and unfulfillment.

3) What empowering beliefs can I adopt to support my growth and potential?

Example: I choose to believe that success is attainable while honoring my values and leading a fulfilling life.

Day 3: Expanding Capabilities

“The expert in anything was once a beginner.”

– Helen Hayes

Today, you’ll reflect on expanding your capabilities to empower yourself and achieve your aspirations. Grab your journal and ponder the following:

1) What specific abilities or skills do I need to develop to reach my goals?

Example: To advance in my career, I need to enhance my leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.

2) How can I acquire or refine these skills? What resources or mentors can assist me?

Example: I will seek out relevant courses, books, or workshops, and connect with experienced professionals in my field.

3) How will developing these capabilities contribute to my personal mastery and growth?

Example: Developing these capabilities will enhance my confidence, broaden my opportunities, and enable me to make a greater impact in my chosen field.

Day 4: Cultivating Empowering Behaviors

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.”

– Winston Churchill

Today’s reflection is on creating empowering habits and behaviors that align with your desired outcomes. Take your journal and reflect on the following:

1) What habits or behaviors have hindered my progress or kept me stuck?

Example: Procrastination and negative self-talk have often held me back from taking action towards my goals.

2) What new habits can I adopt that support my personal growth and well-being?

Example: I commit to daily meditation, setting clear goals, and practicing positive affirmations to rewire my mindset.

3) How can I consistently reinforce and maintain these empowering behaviors?

Example: I will create a daily routine and accountability system to ensure I stay committed to my new habits.

Day 5: Evaluating Your Environment

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

– Jim Rohn

Today’s reflection is about assessing the impact of your environment on your thoughts, emotions, and actions. Grab your journal and explore the following:

1) Is my current environment conducive to my growth and well-being?

Example: My current environment lacks support and inspiration, and it often drains my energy and focus.

2) What changes can I make in my physical space, relationships, or social circle to support my transformation?

Example: I can declutter my physical space, surround myself with positive and supportive individuals, and seek out communities aligned with my values.

3) How can I create an environment that nourishes and inspires me to be the best version of myself?

Example: I will create a dedicated workspace that promotes focus and creativity, seek out like-minded individuals who share my aspirations, and engage in activities that uplift and motivate me.

Day 6: Integration and Alignment

“You have within you right now, everything you need to deal with whatever the world can throw at you.”

– Brian Tracy

Today, you’ll bring together the insights gained from the previous days and focus on aligning your levels of change. Open your journal and reflect on the following:

1) How can I align my identity, beliefs, capabilities, behaviors, and environment to create a harmonious and empowered life?

Example: By aligning my beliefs with my true identity, developing necessary capabilities, cultivating empowering behaviors, and creating a supportive environment, I can create a life that reflects my authentic self.

2) What steps can I take to integrate these changes into my daily routine and make them sustainable?

Example: I will create a morning ritual that incorporates meditation, affirmations, and goal setting. I will also schedule regular check-ins to monitor my progress and make adjustments as needed.

3) How will living in alignment with my heart’s deepest desires and purpose impact my overall well-being and fulfillment?

Example: Living in alignment will bring a sense of fulfillment, joy, and purpose as I pursue meaningful goals and contribute to the greater good.

Day 7: Embrace Your New Beginning

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

– Eleanor Roosevelt

Congratulations on completing this transformative journey! Today, we celebrate your progress and commit to embracing your new beginning. Open your journal one last time and reflect on the following:

1) Set clear intentions for the future based on your newfound self-awareness and alignment.

Example: I intend to live each day with purpose, embracing my authentic self and making choices aligned with my core values and higher purpose.

2) Embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, knowing that you have the power to create the life you desire.

Example: I am ready to face any challenges that come my way, knowing that they are opportunities for growth and transformation. I trust in my ability to navigate this journey with grace and resilience.

3) Craft a new vision for the next cycle of your life that reflects your newfound self-awareness and choices. Write this vision statement in the present tense, using positive terms and stating it as a choice. This vision statement is a powerful tool that will guide your decision-making and inspire you to take action in alignment with your aspirations. Refer to it often, visualize it vividly, and let it fuel your motivation as you step confidently into the year ahead.

Example: I, Susan, now choose to be a confident and compassionate leader, making a positive impact on those around me. I embrace my creativity and use it to inspire and uplift others. I have a fulfilling career that aligns with my passions and allows me to make a difference in the world. I enjoy vibrant health and practice self-care to nurture my mind, body, and spirit. I cultivate meaningful relationships that bring joy and support into my life.

As you complete this process, take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate how far you’ve come and the insights you’ve gained as a result of this self-reflection process. If possible, do something fun to celebrate this important milestone!

It is a journey of self-discovery and transformation that guides you to explore and understand your identity, beliefs, capabilities, behaviors, and environment.
