Paramahansa Yogananda, the spiritual teacher who inspired Steve Jobs to follow his heart, had powerful advice on how to find true love. His teachings center primarily on our heart’s magnetism and using affirmations to attract a true soulmate partnership. In this week’s article, I’d like to share Yogananda’s teachings on these topics, as well as the importance of being in harmony with yourself, others, and the Divine.
In the days leading up to his death, Steve Jobs requested that each attendee at his funeral receive a copy of Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda. Jobs was inspired by Yogananda’s teachings and life’s work, which he believed to be that of one of the most exceptional spiritual teachers. Yogananda’s core message was about the process of self-realization, which is the act of realizing one’s highest potential in this lifetime. His teachings also offer powerful advice for those seeking to attract true, soul-based romantic love.
In his book Spiritual Relationships, Yogananda emphasizes that our hearts are like magnets, drawing potential partners based on our current level of consciousness. To attract a soulmate, Yogananda advises drawing them toward us using our spiritual or love-based energy instead of our physical or mental energy. The way we can access this spiritual, love-based energy is through our hearts. This is the essence of what is taught in “The Path to Soulmate Love” program.
Yogananda suggests repeating the following affirmation or prayer to attract a true soul-based partnership:
“Heavenly Father, bless me that I choose my life companion according to Thy Law of Perfect Soul Union.”
According to Yogananda, it is essential to practice this affirmation after meditation. Start by saying it aloud a few times and gradually transition to saying it mentally. Work with this affirmation for at least six months, with deep faith that your true love is out there and nothing can keep you apart. If you establish a real connection with the Divine through meditation and continuous affirmation of this prayer request, you will find a suitable soulmate companion. However, if you’re already drawn towards someone who is fundamentally inharmonious or not a good match for you, the Divine will prevent you from making the wrong choice. Keep this in mind!
The “Law of Perfect Soul Union” refers to the magnetic attraction of mutually supportive or complementary spiritual qualities that can exist between two people who love each other and share a similar purpose. It is also a reference to being in perfect harmony with the Divine Order of Being, or God’s plan for your life.
You can modify the prayer to include the word “harmony.” Here’s an example:
“Heavenly Father, bless me that I choose my life companion according to Thy Law of Perfect Soul Union in Harmony with your Divine Plan.”
If you’ve already found your ideal partner, the prayer can be modified to include them:
“Heavenly Father, bless me that I may live with my life companion according to Thy Divine Laws of Perfect Soul Union in Harmony with your Divine Plan.”
